Central Wax: ft. Keith Science & Uncut Raw

Central Wax Records is a New Jersey-based underground hip-hop record label dedicated to the experimental productions of Keith Science & DJ Uncut Raw.

The vinyl discography of Keith Science started with the release of Manchild's "Got Away With Some Bullsh!t" 12inch that dropped on Trilunar Records in 1997. The original 12" was limited to 100 copies and is not easy to find. The good news is that both songs got remastered and re-released on Central Wax.

Since 2012 Central Wax dropped about 8 releases on different formats. Let's look a bit deeper into some of the vinyl records:

First of all the EP "Straight From NJ" from Swift Wizdom (CWX003, 2015). Originally released as CDr on Trilunar in 2001, Central Wax pressed a limited edition 12" vinyl plus bonus track. In total only 218 copies pressed.

The producer EP "Primary Key: Chapter 1" (CWX004, 2015) is a 4 tracks strong 12" featuring guest vocals by C-Red, Rampage, Krumb Snatcha, Kool Keith and Pace Won and includes all instrumental versions on the flip side. In total only 220 copies pressed.

Beside a few instrumental only LPs Central Wax also released a 7" by Kid Sean featuring the songs "Electron" b/w "Marbles" (CWX005, 2015). The 45RPM is limited to 560 copies.

Last but not least the re-release of Manchild's 12" (CWX008, 2016). The re-press is limited to 560 copies and should guarantee you that this great piece of wax is from now on part of your collection. "Got Away With Some Bullsh!t" b/w "For Nobody" ft. Swift Wizdom in vocal and instrumental version each.

End of 2014 Soundweight Records and Jorun Bombay together released a 7" entitled "Funky Drummer" (cat# SWR004). Due to popular demand "Funky Drummer" gets re-released on another 7” vinyl.

Instead of just repressing and repeating the same format, Soundweight changed the track on the flip-side to the previously unreleased "I Know You Got (Mind & Soul Power) Edit" - artwork change included.

I said it last time and I say it again: place your order quickly, those Jorun Bombay 7"s always sell out in no time - 48 hours later you could be too late. I do what I can to keep you posted, but you need to read this blogspot regularly and act fast ;).

Redefinition: RDF-086 ft. Rob-O & Pete Rock

In the last few years vinyl records have been gone through a revival and therefore many records are getting re-released. At some point it might look a bit senseless because original copies are sometimes easily accessible and affordable.

For some releases it makes perfectly sense, e.g. if its the first official release or if the first release had whatever type, etc.

Redefinition Records decided to re-release "So Many Rappers" from MC Rob-O and legendary producer Pete Rock on 7" vinyl and for me this is a must have re-release. The tracks got released by St. Nick Ent. in 2000 and again by in 2003. I wouldn't be surprised if Redef has something very dope for the b-side which is so far a well-known secret.

A: So Many Rappers ft. Pete Rock
B: ??? (TBC)

Produced by Pete Rock

My special thanks goes to Rob-O, Pete Rock and Redefinition Records. Shout out to St. Nick Ent. All copyrights reserved, posted for promotion use only .

Slice Of Spice: SSR-020.5 ft. Lord Finesse

The "Secret Slice EP" from Slice Of Spice Record was a promotion test pressing released in 2012. Only 20 test press copies have ever been pressed.

Finally and again in limited quantity the "Secret Slice EP" gets a proper vinyl release and so makes many Lord Finesse collections a bit more complete and collectors happy.

The EP is limited to 200 copies on gold/black vinyl and comes in supreme quality picture sleeve. Around this release SOS introduces the new "subscription service" which does allow long-term supporters of the label to get a little heads-up on releases that are exclusively distributed by the label itself.

A2: Praise The Lord (OG Instrumental)
B1: S.K.I.T.S. (DJ Spinna Remix)
