Ill Adrenaline: IAR-002 ft. Rashad & Confidence

After putting out Beneficence's critically acclaimed "Sidewalk Science" album earlier this year, Ill Adrenaline Records is back to hit the hip-hop world with another throwback-sounding and classic release.

Rashad & Confidence, two longtime students of the game, finally drop their long-awaited debut album "The Element of Surprise" on vinyl. This up-and-coming MC/producer duo, hailing from Brooklyn and Philly, merged to create a record with a timeless sound reminiscent of hip-hop's golden era but with a fresh, updated feel. With no guest appearances or other producers involved, Rashad & Confidence embody the sound real hip-hop heads yearn to hear, going back to the times of Gang Starr and Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth.

The soulful hitting and sample-based boom bap beats courtesy of Confidence capture the pure essence of classic hip-hop production while Rashad's deep and conscious lyrics slice through each track with topics ranging from various life issues to relationships or just raw lyrical display. (source)

When the CD album got released in November 2011 the heads promptly asked to a proper vinyl release and the label followed the voice of the crowed. In a limited edition of 500 copies the album will be released on the 26th of April. Pre-orders are live from the 22nd of April. The label store offers 100 gold colored copies additional to the 400 ones on standard black wax.

RECORD STORE DAY 2012 - 21st of April

Diggers and vinyl heads around the world enjoy "Record Store Day 2012" today, it's the 21st of April. I was checking a couple of stores over the last days to see if I could find something special for you and yours, partly limited edition vinyl.

The first records I wanna recommend is a nice 7" featuring Eric Lau. The record is exclusively distributed via www.hhv.de and is limited to 200 copies on heavy white wax. The track "What I'd Rather" features Oddisee, the record contains vocal and instrumental version.

Another nice release will be the 7" box set of the group Visioneers. Hipology features 5 records and will be released over BBE records. Price will be around 35 €.

J-Dilla nerds will have the possibility to add the tracks "Think Twice" and "E=MC2" to their 7" collection. BBE wins again. And if we're just recommending 7inch vinyl don't forget to check the release from Aspects called "Beattape" ft. the mixes of DJ Format and Evil Ed.

A trip to Chicago and you have the limited vinyl release of Common's latest album "The Dreamer, The Believer". And what about updating your Pharcyde collection. The "Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde" box set contains 7x7 + 2CDs and the pack design is one of the best I've ever seen. Here is a nice link that provides you a couple of more releases also from other genres. Check it out, safe the vinyl and happy digging'!!!

Finally one last hint: Six2Six Records will have something dope as well and Ill Adrenaline Records will announce another sure shot this weekend. You better be prepared ...

Brooklyn Sound: SHARK-001 ft. DJ Shark

Ill Adrenaline: IAR-003 ft. The Legion

Straight from The Bronx comes the trio "The Legion" (Chucky Smash, Molecules and Cee-Low). The Legion first appeared on the amped posse cut, "We Boys" on Black Sheep's sophomore album, "Non-Fiction" in 1994. Later that year, as signees to Black Sheep's One Love imprint, they dropped the brilliant underground classic, "Jingle Jangle". The Legion followed up with the single "Legion Groove" and their now much sought after debut album "Theme + Echo = Krill" (1994) featuring Black Sheep, Chi-Ali and Showbiz & A.G.

After a hiatus for a few years, they resurfaced with the single, "Street Thing / Caught Up" (1998) on Legion Records/Fat Beats and some appearances on Dres' "Sure Shot Redemption" album. Then the Bronx trio went quiet.

While Molecules handled dope production for Dres, Milano, Amanda Marshall and even appeared on P!nk's "Stupid Girls", Chucky Smash's been hosting radio shows in the BX. The three long-time friends never stopped doing music together but it was already 2011 when the trio finally made a dope comeback on the Beneficence collabo track, "Aim, Fire, Spit".

A: Straight Flow
B: Automatic Systematic

Recorded and mixed in 1995 at D&D Studios, NYC.
Limited edtions 7inch release, 300 copies (100 copies on white wax)

Stay tuned for a rough and rugged The Legion full length album later this year with additional production by DJ Premier, Showbiz and Buckwild. My special thanks goes out to Benny aka "abrotherwithsoul" and Ill Adrenaline Records. All copyrights reserved, posted for promotion use only.

Breakin Bread: BNB070 ft. Kazahaya & Camp Lo

Breakin Bread returns with the first in a series of 7”s from Japanese producer Kazahaya who’s been working with US MC’s. Proper boom bap music on both sides, Camp Lo feature on the A-side with a posse cut extraordinaire on the flip.

Kazahaya hails from Tokyo, Japan and has been pushing his own brand of mash ups and mix CD's for the last few years. In 2007 he sent a demo to Breakin Bread and the resulting EP “Remember Hip Hop” became a bestselling hip hop release of that year.

Because it was a mashup with loads of famous MC’s on it Breakin Bread had to pull it from release! Since then Kaza has been getting mad props for his beats so he decided to work with some US MC’s and this series of 7”s is the result.

A: Bon Voyage ft. Camp Lo
B: Remember Hip Hop 2012 ft. D-Stroy

This release seems not to be limited to an official number but it doesn't turn up on every famous record store so check it out and maybe you like. All copyrights reserved, posted for promotion use only.

Chopped Herring: CHJVC001 ft. J.V.C. Force

It's been over 20 years since their last release and the F.O.R.C.E is still strong!

J.V.C.F.O.R.C.E's energy comes via intravenous drip directly from the streets - in that very vital sense they were, still are and always will be 100% Hip Hop. Heavily influenced by the first wave of Hip Hop artists (above all The Coldcrush Brothers), the trio of B-Luv, AJ Rock and Curt Cazal, ever since an early age were fascinated by group harmonizations. Being brought up within one block of each other in the Central Islip neighbourhood of Long Island (NY), the three boys studied at Central Islip High school.

It was in those formative years that they discovered the burgeoning, new Hip Hop movement together, shared the vibrant popular culture of the late 70s and early 80s and ultimately formed the Hip Hop group J.V.C.F.O.R.C.E. From the very beginning of the group's inception they were in every sense, in complete H.A.R.M.O.N.Y.

Inspired by classic old school MC battles like Coldcrush vs Fantastic Romantic, the boys began rapping at a very early age. B-Luv and Curt Cazal started to develop the fundamentals of MC'ing at school in the 1st and 2nd grade while attending Cordello Elementary School, L.I. Around the same time, B-Luv's father's record collection became a constant focal point. They learned to appreciate sounds from a previous generation (a main ingredient of Hip Hop music) as well as the art of scratching, like many youngsters from that time and place, to the detriment of an older relative's record collection!
