Black Buffalo: BBR-012 ft. Jorun Bombay

In 2016, under the umbrella of Jorun Bombay's Funkbox Reload series, "The Cypherny" edit was recorded in a very limited pressing intended for promotional DJ & radio purpose only. One copy was given to a lucky giveaway prize winner.

On public demand Black Buffalo Records finally releases the great Juice Crew edit for the heads. Roxanne Shante told in an interview she wanted to be on the track "The Symphony" so badly and her wish becomes true on this edit.

The first press was about 300 copies strong but sold out in no time. A second press with about 500 copies got releases short after ... the difference ... 1st press has a black star, 2nd press has a blue star.

Jorun Bombay explains: “This is an older idea I had floating around. I heard Roxanne Shante’s interview with KRS-ONE about how she really wanted to be on “The Symphony” (which she really should have been on it) so just for the sake of shining a new light on the song, I remade the beat (a while ago) and just added the accapella of Frankie Cutlass’ “The Cypher” over it. just to hear how Shante & Biz would have sounded on it and it grew from there. Would have loved to put Shan on there but I don’t have access to many of his accapellas so I put Kane at the end like how he appeared on the end of the original.”
