Holy Grails: SB-456 ft. Showbiz & A.G.

This is a time journey back to 1991 ... We're in the streets of NYC, the Bronx, some guys chillin' around the corner, talkin' to a guy selling records out of his car. The record looks quite independent in that generic cover, a red label with white letters saying SHOWBIZ & A.G.

Well there are some rumors around that the story happened nearly like that and probably I poetized something additionally but I always wanted to be in the streets to get my personal copy from Showbiz. Too late ...

In the meantime several represses become available but the original is still easy to identify. At first you'll find the signature CBS ♪♪ in the run-out groove but if you wanna buy the record from an online store make sure the artists name is spelled correctly: SHOWBIZ & A.G. with a special view on the "." behind the G.

As far as I know the original press was limited to 500 copies so it's crazy rare 20 years later, believe it? But without a doubt the promotion was a total success because their discography has multiple "all time classic" available nowadays.

A1: Soul Clap (Vocal) ft. Diamond D
A2: Soul Clap (Instrumental)
A3: A Giant In The Mental (Vocal)
A4: A Giant In The Mental (Instrumental)
B1: Party Groove
B2: Diggin' In The Crates ft. Diamond D, Lord Finesse
B3: It's Up To You ft. Lord Finesse

Producer: Showbiz, Diamond D
Engineer: Jazzy Jay, Skeff Anselm

Also a nice find is the picture cover version on London records which has a different track list and bombastic cover design.

My special thanks goes out to Showbiz and the whole D.I.T.C. crew. All copyrights reserved, posted for promotion only means a homage to one of the dopiest records of my collection.

HHV/Drink Water: HHV10YRS45-1/10 ft. Dela

While most of us vinyl heads prefer diggin' thru dusty crates we sometimes need to buy records online. Over the last couple of years many record shop shut their doors.

Still remember the time when I started my researches for second hand records on the world wide web and one day google popped-up a new link. www.hiphopvinyl.de When I placed my first order for a sealed copy of "Paula Perry - Extra Extra" I got a nice little newsletter with it and it was always exiting to see what new entries they got. Over the years the online shop became bigger and bigger and today I guess it's the biggest hip-hop online store in Germany.

To celebrate their 10th anniversary HHV teamed up with a nice bunch of labels and artists to release some exclusives. Volume 1 features two song by french beatwiz Dela.

A: The Mars Remix ft. Blu
B: The Long Life Remix ft. Talib Kweli

I already placed my pre-order for a copy of this and I am curious to see what else will be released with Vol.2 etc. Happy anniversary from Stitch By Stitch blogspot, keep up the good work! And for the next 10 years I really hope that the prices for 2nd hand records will go back to more realistic market values and that there will be new options for international shipping costs.

My special thanks goes out to HHV and Dela. All copyrights owned by the artists and labels involved, posted for promotion use only.

Dope Folks: DF-0014 ft. Ill Distracxion

No time to relax, no time to save your wallets. The new 12" from Dope Folks Records features the NYC combo Ill Distracxion. The duo consists of MCs and producers World and Pliz. Their debut 12" released in 1996 and it became a hard to get but much respected indie bomb.

The "Psychotic Nasty EP" features both tracks from their debut plus another six previously unreleased songs. The features leave an advice of their connections to other hip-hop artists like The Executioners or Kukoo Da Baga Bonez. And if you follow the blog of akutt you'll know that Pliz also worked with O.D.B. (RIP) and i really hope it will be available on wax one day.

Pre-Orders are now available at www.dopefolksrecords.bigcartel.com

A: Compete
A: I Heard Ya Don't Know (Da Sequel) ft. Kukoo
A: Big Queen (Real Nigs)
A: Buddie Buddie
B: No M.C.'s (from debut 12")
B: Calm Wit Datrom (from debut 12")
B: Doing it Up Like This

Redefinition: RDF-013 ft. Damu The Fudgemunk & Raw Poetic + (RDF019)

Next release on Redefinition Records in the pipeline. RDF013 features the track "Hole Up" by Damu The Fudgemunk and Raw Poetic and includes the Instrumental Version on the B-Side.

The record will be announced in the 2nd or 3rd week of 2012 and is the missing piece of the puzzle to complete the Redefinition discography.

On this occasion I like to advice to RDF019 which will never become available for sale due to the fact that it's a test pressing to determining the technical quality of a musical recording. It's not to be sold or distributed to the public. RDF019 features the Damu Remix of O.C.'s "Who Run It". The test press got pressed on white coloured vinyl and is limited as phuk! Good luck ;)

My special thanks goes out to JNOTA at Redefinition Records and Damu The Fudgemunk. All copyrights reserved, posted for promotion use only.

Included in this package, and exclusive to Slice Of Spice customers, is a limited edition blue coloured flexi-disc. There will only be 150 available, which includes two exclusive pieces of Blue Note dedicated production from Lord Finesse & Davel "Bo" McKenzie.
